A Closer Look at The Orthopaedic Sleeve Society: Its Roots and Key Players

Credentials are imperative to trust and loyalty. Meet the clinicians who built The Orthopaedic Sleeve — 30 years of combined physiotherapy and podiatry experience.

We know that credentials are imperative to creating trust and loyalty in any product. So in this post, we're going to show you who's out front running the show, who we are as clinicians, and why that matters when it comes to the brace you're considering putting on your leg.

Cody Loopstra — Physiotherapist & Co-Founder

Cody is a physiotherapist and exercise physiologist with a background in advanced taping techniques and lower-limb biomechanics. His clinical career has been defined by one repeated observation: patients in pain between appointments needed something better than ice and rest to bridge the gap.

That observation became the central problem The Orthopaedic Sleeve was designed to solve. Cody's expertise in exercise physiology informed the load-management principles behind the brace — specifically, how to keep patients moving within the Goldilocks Zone of loading during recovery.

Andrew Pratt — Podiatrist & Co-Founder

Andrew is a structural podiatrist and gait analyst with over 15 years of clinical experience in lower-limb biomechanics. His expertise in foot function, orthotic prescription, and gait analysis gave the brace its biomechanical precision — particularly around ankle kinematics and plantar pressure redistribution.

Together, Cody and Andrew bring a combined 30 years of daily clinical experience treating the exact conditions The Orthopaedic Sleeve is designed to address.

The Origin

"What can our patients use between our treatment sessions to manage painful movement — and come back better?" That question, asked during the COVID-19 quiet of 2020, became five years of development.

The result is a patented, biomimetic exoskeleton with an adjustable tension dial — independently validated by the University of Queensland's Neuromuscular Biomechanics Laboratory and registered as a medical device with the ARTG.

This isn't a product designed in a boardroom. It was born from literally thousands of real patient stories and a genuine frustration with the gap between clinical appointments.
